LysDexia and Other Dis/Ability Myths (CTL)

LysDexia and Other Dis/Ability Myths (CTL)

As a lead-up to the workshop on Universal Design (on March 15), and Inclusive
Teaching (March 20) this workshop will directly address three specific issues related
to dis/abilities in the classroom: Dyslexia, Depression/Anxiety, and Ableism. In this
workshop we will learn how to avoid harmful stereotypes and labels of students (i.e.
“a dyslexic student” versus “a student with dyslexia”), how to approach students who
seem to be struggling, and how to ensure our behaviors, materials, and practices are
supportive to student learning. This workshop will be co-led by Berea student Jacey
Grooms.

Part of the Center for Teaching and Learning's TA and Tutoring Excellence Workshop Series.

Workshops take place at the CTL, Library  Lower Level.
